What is erythema multiforme?
A hypersensitivity reaction usually triggered by infection (most commonly HSV)
Describe the characteristic rash which is present in erythema multiforme
Erythematous target lesions
What is Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS)?
Mucocutaneous necrosis with involvement of at least two mucosal sites
What are the causes of SJS?
Usually drugs - most commonly antiepileptic drugs including lamotrigine, phenytoin and carbamazepine
What is Toxic Epidermal Necrosis (TEN)?
Extensive mucocutaneous necrosis
What are the causes of TEN?
Usually drugs
What is erythroderma?
Exfoliative dermatitis affecting 90% of the skin surface
What is eczema herpeticum?
Secondary viral infection of eczema (HSV)
Which drug is used to treat eczema herpeticum?
Aciclovir
What is necrotising fasciitis?
A rapidly spreading infection of the deep fascia with secondary tissue necrosis
