ASCI
Agent to Server Communications Interval
RTF
Rich Text Format–Only MAPI email clients like Outlook and Outlook on the Web understand RTF messages.
MAPI
Messaging Application Program Interface–An API for Microsoft Windows which allows programs to become email-aware. It is usually used to communicate with Microsoft Exchange server even though it is designed to be independent of the protocol.
TNEFF
Transport Neutral Encapsulation Format–It contains a plain text version of the message and an attachment that packages the original formatted version of the message. The attachment is typically named Winmail.dat.
MIME
Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions–An internet standard that supports text in character sets other than ASCI, as well as attachments of audio, video, images and application programs.
SMTP AUTH
Simple Mail Transfer Protocol–This is an extension of the SMTP where a client may log in using any authentication mechanism supported by the server. Mainly used by submission servers where authentication is mandatory.

DNS
Domain Name System–Translates human locations to Internet Protocol (IP) addresses.
