Spain saw itself as the rightful ruler of England after the death of Mary i as the Spanish king Philip ii was Mary’s husband.

It meant while having to find money to pay off his inherited debts, he also had to find money to fix the country’s economy.

She sold of crown lands in order to get easy, short-term money to put towards her debts.
Why was the Queen selling off crown lands problematic for James?
It meant he was losing out on money long-term through loss of taxes.

Her reign saw the introduction to many cultural achievements including William Shakespeare.
What were Elizabeths most known skills as a monarch?
Being an exceptional rhetorician (speaker) and an image-maker which she used to style herself as a magnificent female authority, dedicated to the well-being of her country.
What was an example of Elizabeth’s unpopularity?
Some Protestants felt she didn’t go far enough in purging Catholicism and its elements from the Church Of England’s doctoring.
