Went to France
Married prince Francis (francis II) - he dies 1560 as does her mother
Returns to Scotland in 1561 to rule - Catholic monarch of a Protestant nation
Compromise - mass in private, agrees not to undo reformation

Mary QoS murder and mayhem

A

Mary loses Scottish throne in 1567 - overthrown by Protestant nobles - religion and marriage were at the core of her deposition
1568 - Mary escapes from prison - defeated at langside - flees to England, bothwell flees to Denmark whee he dies in prison
1571-86 - plots x3/4 - imprisoned
1587 - executed after babington plot discovers by walsingham
