7
Q

Briefly describe Direct ELISA.

A

The antigen is immobilized on a plate, and the enzyme-linked antibody binds directly to the antigen. Upon addition of the substrate, a measurable signal (color change) occurs.

8
Q

Briefly describe Indirect ELISA.

A

The antigen is immobilized on a plate, and a primary antibody binds to the antigen. A labeled secondary antibody specific to the primary antibody is then added, followed by substrate to produce a signal.

9
Q

Briefly describe Sandwich ELISA.

A

The capture antibody is immobilized on a plate and binds to the antigen. The detection antibody, which is enzyme-linked, then binds to the antigen. Addition of the substrate generates a signal.

10
Q

Briefly describe Competitive ELISA.

A

The sample antigen and a labeled antigen compete for binding to an antibody immobilized on a plate. The more antigen present in the sample, the less labeled antigen binds to the antibody. A lower signal indicates higher antigen concentration.
