Initial Rescue Operations shall be defined as
those activities which can be accomplished by the initial responding fire companies, and which do not require confined space rescue training.
The practice of the fire department has been to initiate rescue operations of persons trapped in stalled elevators in
a timely manner
These procedures - Elevator Rescue SOG - should be used by those personnel who have not
received additional rescue training and when an elevator car has stalled less than 18 inches or less from the landing
Stalled elevator cars greater than ___ from the landing are considered ______________ and require TRT personnel to perform rescue.

1. Upon arrival
determine if the company responsible for elevator maintenance has been called, if not request communications to notify the appropriate company
- Locate
