Rhythm
An organized pattern of notes (sounds) and rests (silence)
Melody
Melody is defined as three or more pitches (high and low) that follow one after another in a single line of music
Harmony
Harmony is defined as two or more pitches that are sounded simultaneously (at the same time)
Dynamics
Varying degrees of loudness
Articulations
The style in which a particular pitch is played (long, short, accented, smooth)
Timbre
Different instruments produce different “qualities” of sound that make them distinctive
Texture
Texture in music referes to the number of different musical lines that can be heard

Form is the overall structure and organization of a piece of music. Repetition and variation are two of the main tools used by composers when creating form
Monophonic
One single line of music (melody only)
Homophonic
A single line of melody with simple chord harmony
Polyphonic
Multiple melodic lines that intertwine and interact with one another
