what does supervision mean?

A

supervision means directing the activity to take more control of the way the pool user behaves.

A lifeguard needs to make sure they balance the element of supervision required without having so much control that people dont enjoy their visit

what are some examples of early intervention?

A

-asking a swimmer not to hypervntilate prior to swimming underwater
- asking a swimmer to follow the direction of the lane swimming signs
-stoping a weak swimmer from moving to the deep end by crawling along a lane rope or the side of the pool
- taking immediate action if if you see a member of the public with a concerned expression on their face- find out why and act accordingly

What is scanning?

A

Scanning is looking around the pool constantly for a few seconds at each part of the pool and to make sure you don’t concentrate on one part of the pool for too long. You use a sweeping action by moving your head
