Letter 1: This tells the area being paced: A (atria), V (ventricle), D (dual), O (none).

Letter 2: This tells the area being sensed: same as above

Letter 3: The response of the pacemaker to sensing: O (none), I (inhibits when sensed), T (triggers when paced), D (dual)

Letter 4: Rate adaptive- really just yes or no. O stands for none. R stands for adaptive.
