Q

How do you accelerate an electron

A
  • connect a cathode and an anode to a cell at 5000v
  • connect a heating device behind the cathode
  • find the speed of an electron using the equation, E = voltage/distance
  • if an electron goes through 5000 volts, the energy is 5000 electrons for example
  • we use the electric field to accelerate the electron

Q

how do you find the wavelength using De Broglie’s experiment

A
  • use the voltage and multiply the coulombs by the voltage
  • use P = mv and multiply the mass by the voltage to find the final momentum
  • use de Broglie’s equation (wavelength = h/p) to find the wavelength
