What is a Ray Diagram?
A diagram that uses rays to model what happens to beams of light
How do you construct a Ray Diagram?
Draw lines to represent rays
Draw normal at 90°to the surface at point where rays hit
Measure angles from normal to rays
Why are electromagnetic waves refracted?
When air goes from air into a denser medium, it slows down and bends towards the normal
What is the link between the density of a medium and the refraction of a wave?
The bigger the difference in density, the bigger the change of direction
What is the difference between ‘emit’ and ‘transmit’?
Emit = give out Transmit = let through
Which electromagnetic waves do walls absorb and which do they transmit?
Transmit:
Radiowaves, Microwaves
Absorb:
Visible Light, Ultraviolet
What does what happens to electromagnetic waves depend on?
Wavelenght
