2
Q

How do you extract Aluminium using electrolysis

A

You would extract the aluminium from its ore which is called Bauxite (AL2 O3) but you have to dissolve it in molten cryolite first

6
Q

does oxidation or reduction take place at the positive electrode?

A

Oxidation takes place because that’s where the ions go to loose electrons

9
Q

which ions are discharged at the - electrode (anode)

A

If there is a halide ( group seven element) then the halide will be discharged but if there isn’t, oxygen will be discharged
