Electricity and magnetism Flashcards
What is static electricity and how is it made?
Buy rubbing insulators together, electrons are transferred which gives the objects magnetic charges which is called static electricity.
Features of a series circuit.
Series circuits contain only one loop the current is the same everywhere, and the potential difference across each component adds up to the potential difference across the battery.
What are the features of a parallel circuit?
Parallel circuits contain multiple branches currents in all branches, add up to make the total current and potential difference across each component is the same as the potential difference across the battery.
What is the resistance?
The resistance of the measure of how easy is the pastor component doctors have low resistance and insulated high resistance. Resistance is calculated by measuring the potential difference and current unit for distance resistance is OH M.
How can you see the magnetic field around a magnet?
You can see the field around a bar magnet with a small pompous. Iron filings is the lines are closer together. The field is stronger.
What is the current and how is it measured? What is the unit?
The current is the amount of charge flip a second. It is measured with an animator. The unit for current is amp A.
Features of electromagnets, three
Electromagnet to only magnetic when they have a flow of current so they can be turned off. They are made by running a current for a call of wire. They usually have an iron core in the middle of the coil which makes them stronger.
How can you make an electromagnet stronger?
You can make an electromagnet stronger by adding more times of wire on the coil e.g. copper or using more current.
What is the potential difference?
potential difference is the amount of energy transferred by the charges in a circuit measured with a volume to meter and the unit is Volt V.
