electricity Flashcards
what are the 2 types of current flow
electron flow
conventional current
what is the name of the charged particles that flow from a cell through resistors
electrons
if the current in a 20 ohm resistor is 0.6a how much is in the resistor with 10 ohms.
0.6A
how do you work out that the charge delivered by the battery in one minute is 36C
0.6A × 60s
= 36 C
if 2 resistors 10 ohms and 20 ohms are connected in series across a battery and the current in the larger resistor is 0.6A. show that the voltage is 18V.
Total resistance = 30 Ω
0.6 × 30 = 18 V
if 2 identical resistors are connected in parallel across a battery with a combined resistance of 12 ohms what is each resistors resistance.
24 Ω
if 2 identical resistors are connected in series across a battery with a combined resistance of 12 ohms what is each resistors resistance.
6 Ω.
3 resistors are connected in parallel with each other x is before that and after that there is a resistor connected in series and y is after that. x has a current of 3mA and the voltage between x and y is 12mV.
what is the total resistance between x and y.
what is the current in each resistor.
what is the voltage across each resistor.
what is the resistance of each resistor.
a. 0.012 V/ 0.003 A
= 4 Ω
b. so each of the
three parallel resistors takes a current of 1 mA.
Current in the resistor nearest Y is 3 mA.
c. Voltage across each parallel resistor = 1
4 of total voltage
= 1
4 × 12 mV
= 3 mV
Voltage across resistor nearest Y = 12 – 3
= 9 mV
d. 0.009V
0.003A
= 3 Ω Resistors are all identical – each is 3 Ω.
