The fuse
If the current exceeds the fuse rating, the wire inside the fuse melts. This breaks the circuit and the appliance is no longer live. So isn’t dangerous.
The earth wire
This is attached to the outer metal case of the appliance. If the live wire touches the case, current flows through the earth wire. The surge j. Current melts the fuse wire and the appliance becomes safe.
Yellow and green
Circuit breaker
When current increases too much, the circuit breaker breaks the circuit. The circuit breaker is better than a fuse because it can be re-set easily and breaks the circuit quicker than a fuse.

Insulation
Electrical wires are covered by an insulator. Insulators do not conduct electricity because they don’t contain free charge carries.
Double insulation
Hair drier has this cuz of its plastic case, box inside a box
Direct current
Flows in one direction.
Alternating current
current changes direction continually
Sources of direct current include
Batteries
