Electricity Flashcards
Electron
negatively charged particle of an atom
static electricity
a stationary electric charge, typically produced by friction, that causes sparks or crackling or the attraction of dust or hair.
proton
a stable subatomic particle occurring in all atomic nuclei, with a positive electric charge equal in magnitude to that of an electron, but of opposite sign.
nucleus
the central and most important part of an object, movement, or group, forming the basis for its activity and growth.
neutron
a subatomic particle of about the same mass as a proton but without an electric charge, present in all atomic nuclei except those of ordinary hydrogen.
shell
something resembling or likened to a shell because of its shape or its function as an outer case.
series circuit
A series circuit is a closed circuit in which the current follows one path, as opposed to a parallel circuit where the circuit is divided into two or more paths
parallel
A parallel circuit is a closed circuit in which the current divides into two or more paths before recombining to complete the circuit
voltage
an electromotive force or potential difference expressed in volts.
current
a flow of electricity which results from the ordered directional movement of electrically charged.
resistance
Resistance is an electrical quantity that measures how the device or material reduces the electric current flow through
