electricity Flashcards

1
Q

what is a series circuit and what is the current flow like in it

A

all the components are connected end to end, they are in one loop.
The current flow is constant (SI)

2
Q

what is a parallel circuit + 2 advantages of it

A

circuit with branches where current can flow through more then one route
advantages are -
- components in the same circuit can be switched on and off individually
- if a component in one branch stops working, the other branches are not effected

3
Q

is current constant in a parallel circuit

A

no because the current divides at the intercepts of the wires and the current that is required for a component to work goes into the branch, but voltage is constant (PVC)

18
Q

what are the effects of increasing the number of cells in a series circuit

A
  • increase the current in the circuit
  • increase the voltage across each component
