Electricity Flashcards
What is Electricity?
Electricity is a flow of electrons, Which goes through a circuit to produce energy.
What is an electrical conductor
A material which will allow currents to flow through it
What is a electrical insulator
A material which won’t allow current to flow through it
What way do electrons flow?
Negative Terminal to Positive
What way do Conventional currents flow?
Positive Terminal to Negative
What is used to measure current?
Ammeter
What is used to measure Voltage?
Voltmeter
What Is a Parallel circuit?
A circuit with 2 or more routes for current to flow
What is a series circuit?
A circuit with one route for current to flow
What happens in a short circuit?
More energy is transferred from one terminal to another
What is electrostatic charge?
An electric charge at rest on the surface of an insulated body
What is the law of electrostatics?
Opposites attract
Same repel
How does an object become positively or negatively charged?
Via the transfer of electrons through friction
What is the charge and mass of an electron?
Charge-1
Mass-1/1870
