Electricity Flashcards
Can an electrical current flow through an incomplete course?
It can’t, because an electrical current will only flow if the circuit is complete.
How many paths is there for an electrical current in a series circuit?
Only one.
What happens to the bulbs if there are more bulbs being added to a series circuit?
Each of them get dimmer.
What happens when one component in a series circuit fails?
The whole circuit would fail.
How many paths is there for an electrical current in a parallel circuit?
More than one.
What happens to the bulbs if more bulbs keep being added to a parallel circuit?
They would all stay bright.
What happens when one component in a parallel circuit fails?
The circuit would still continue to work.
What are conductors?
They are substances that electric current can flow through easily.
What are insulators?
Insulators are substances which stop electric current flowing.
What are two examples of conductors?
Steel and copper are both conductors.
What are two examples of insulators?
Plastic and glass.
What is electrical current?
It is the movement of electric charge (or electrons) from negative to positive in a circuit.
What is the symbol for electrical current?
I
What is electrical current measured in?
Amperes (or amps (A) for short).
What can exist without current?
Voltage.
