Q

Would a circuit containing only a battery and a wire work?

A

No, it would short circuit the battery and probably cause it to explode or something equally as dangerous.

Q

What is the difference between a cell and a battery?

A

A battery is a combination of 2 or more cells, and a cell is a store of internal energy that can be transferred as an electrical current.

The biggest difference is that batteries are chemical, and cells are not.
