If the GEN switch is set to ON in one cockpit, what happens in the other cockpit?
The GEN switch is set to OFF
How is power provided for the GEN switches?
A circuit breaker labeled GEN SW on the front cockpit generator bus circuit breaker panel
How is the generator bus divided?

How many battery buses are there?
2, front cockpit and aft cockpit
Where does the rear cockpit battery bus receive power from?
The front cockpit battery bus
How does the rear cockpit avionics bus receive power?
From the front cockpit battery bus through the front cockpit avionics bus
What controls power to the rear cockpit battery bus?
AFT BAT circuit breaker on the front cockpit battery bus circuit breaker panel
What controls power to the front and rear cockpit avionics battery buses?
FWD AVI and AFT AVI respectively, on the front cockpit battery bus circuit breaker panel
What is the hot battery bus directly connected to and powered by?
The battery whenever the battery is installed on the aircraft
What does the hot battery bus do?
- Continuous essential power to components which are required to operate continuously or may be necessary in an emergency
- Doesn’t matter what position battery switches are in
What components are powered by the hot battery bus?
- FDR MAINT
- Ram air valve
- ELT
- Emergency flaps
- Clocks
- OBOGS
- Battery switch
What are the components of the secondary power system?
- 24 VDC 42 amp-hour battery
- 24 VDC, 5 amp-hour aux battery
What is the purpose of the battery?
- Provides power for engine starts
- Powers all electrical systems (except A/C) in the event of a generator failure with the bus tie closed
What controls battery power?
The battery switch , labeled BAT on the right forward switch panel in each cockpit
If the BAT switch is on in the front cockpit, what position is it in in the rear cockpit?
OFF
What provides power for the battery switches?
BAT SW circuit breaker on the battery bus circuit breaker panel in the front cockpit
What is the purpose of the Auxiliary Battery?
Supplies power for a minimum number of aircraft systems and avionics in the event of failure of the generator and primary battery
How is the Auxiliary Battery controlled?
The auxiliary battery switch, placarded AUX BAT, on the right forward switch panel
What is external power used for?
Powering all T-6 systems, to include engine start
How is external power applied to the aircraft
Through the battery bus with the BAT switch in the ON position
What helps protect against excessive voltage from the external power system?
A voltage sensor located between the external power receptacle and external power relay
What happens if the voltage sensor detects overvoltage from external power?
It disconnects external power from the aircraft electrical system
What provides power for the Instrument Panel Lighting System?
INST circuit breaker on the battery bus circuit breaker panel
What provides power for the Side Lights?
SIDE circuit breaker on the generator bus circuit breaker panel
What provides power for the Flood Lights?
FLDT circuit breaker on the battery bus circuit breaker panel
What provides power for the utility and knee board lights?
UTIL circuit breaker on the battery bus circuit breaker panel
Where is the landing light located?
Aft and inboard of the left main landing gear strut
When is the landing light exposed?
When the landing gear is extended
How do you activate the Landing Light?
By a switch placarded LDG on the trim control panel
What is unique about the landing light switch?
The head has three horizontal bumps to assist in identifying by feel
Where is the taxi light located?
Aft and inboard of the right main landing gear strut
When is the taxi light exposed?
When the gear are extended
How is the taxi light activated?
By a switch placarded TAXI on the trim control panel
