Q

hair dryer

A
  • Ek of the air driven by the fan
  • energy heating heating air flowing past the heater filament
  • sound of motor (energy heating the motor heats the air going past it, so is not wasted)
  • energy heating the hair dryer itself

Q

Trevor Baylis (early 1900s) - clockwork radio

A

turn the hand which winds up a clockwork spring in it and increases the Ee of the spring
-when it unwinds the energy from the Ee is transferred to its Ek store and it turns a small electric generator in the radio

  • no battery or main electricity needed
  • can be used by people with no access to main electricity and batteries
  • can manually store energy by winding up the spring every time
