Electric Current Flashcards
What is electric current measured in?
Amperes/Amps(A)
How is current measured?
Using an ammeter
What is a simple circuit?
A circuit where everything is connected in one loop across the terminals of the battery.
There aren’t any points where currents can split or join.(junctions)
How is voltage measured?
By connecting the voltmeter across (or in parallel with) the component.
Measured in volts (v)
What is current?
The flow of electricity around the circuit.
What is voltage?
The amount of push
What does the current depend on?
The voltage
What is a parallel circuit?
A circuit which contains a point/junction where the current can split or join.
In a parallel circuit what happens to the voltage?
It stays the same across each parallel branch.
What is electricity current?
Rate of flow of charge.
How do you work out the electric current?
A=C/T
Current=charge % time
What is electric charge measured in?
Coulombs (c)
What is time measured in?
Seconds (s)
What is the formula?
Q
i | t
(I=Q/T)
(Current=Charge/Time)
What is ohms law?
V=IxR
Voltage=current x Resistance
V
IxR
