Sentence Combining
is the process of combining two or more simple sentences together to make a more complex sentence. This is a useful writing tool because it allows you to include more information in fewer words.
Use: Basic conjunctions, subordinating conjunctions, and appositives
Parts of Speech
There are eight parts of speech in the English Language: noun, pronoun, verb, adjective, adverb, preposition, conjunction, and interjection. The part of speech indicates how the word functions in meaning as well as grammatically within the sentence.
Noun
A person, place or thing.
Pronoun
A noun that refers to someone or something.
Verb
An action.
Adverb
A word that describes an action.
Adjective
A word that describes something.
Interjection
A word that describes a disruption.
Conjunction
Something that is used to coordinate words.
Preposition
A specific position that something or someone is in.
