What is Theme
A lesson or moral of the story

They may use precise and factual language
What significant ideas or recurring patterns are present throughout the story?
Motifs
How do characters actions and choices relate to the overall theme?
By revealing their values, motivations, and internal conflicts
How do the setting contribute to the theme?
Providing a backdrop that shapes the characters actions, emotions, and conflicts
What is the main conflict in the story, and how does it connect to the theme?
The central struggle or problem that the protagonist must overcome, and it connects to the theme by revealing the underlying message or moral the author wants to convey through the characters journey in dealing with that conflict
What lasting impression or lesson does the story leave with the reader?
The importance of kindness, sharing, facing, fears, or the wonder of nature
How does the protagonist’s journey reflect the theme?
Showcasing the characters transformation and growth throughout the narrative, where their actions, decisions, and experiences directly illustrate the central idea or message the author is trying to convey
What lessons does the main character learn that connects to the theme?
The central message or life lesson
