Figurative Language
Makes a comparison showing similarities between two different things.
Simile
Makes implicit, implied, or hidden comparisons between two things that are unrelated.
Metaphor
A non-human, an idea, or an animal is given human attributes.
Personification
A brief and indirect reference to a person place, thing, or idea of historical literary or political significance.
Allusion
Represents objects, actions, and ideas in such a way that it appeals to our physical senses.
Imagery
The way a writer created and develops character’s personalities.
Characterization
Directly and straight up telling the reader the character’s actual physical and mental traits.
Direct Characterzation
not outright providing the reader with information but forcing the reader to use their imagination
Indirect Characterzation
physical description dialogue thought/actions How others respond to the character (STEAL)
Methods of Indirect Characterization
Undergoes important changes caused by actions or experiences as a plot unfolds.
Dynamic Character
Remains the same throughout the story.
Static Character
Complex and highly developed having a variety of traits and different sides to his/her personalities.
Round Character.
One who is not highly developed, exists mainly to advance the plot
Flat Character.
Reasons for behavior sometimes can be multiple or conflicting
Motivation
