EKG Stuff Flashcards
right axis deviation
Is a heart condition wherein the electrical conduction of the heart has an electrical axis greater than +90°.
COPD, pulmonary arterial hypertension, or large pulmonary embolism. In the latter, for example, a clot in the pulmonary arteries requires more work of the right ventricle to push blood past it.
Left axis deviation
left anterior hemiblock
Q waves of inferior myocardial infarction
artificial cardiac pacing
emphysema
hyperkalaemia
Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome - right sided accessory pathway
tricuspid atresia
ostium primum ASD
injection of contrast into left coronary artery
Axis Determination
- Find the most equiphasic limb lead.
- Look at the lead running at 90 degree to this
- impulse is mostly positive? axis to towards this lead
- impulse is mostly negative? axis towards this lead
- truely equiphasic? yes you have found the cardiac axis
- slightly more positive/negative? move the axis 15 degrees towards or away
Brugada Criteria
Brugada syndrome is a disorder characterized by sudden death associated with one of several ECG patterns characterized by incomplete right bundle-branch block and ST-segment elevations (concave, scoop) in the anterior precordial leads(V1,2,).
