EKG's & Lab Values Flashcards
What is the cardiac conduction path?
SA node -> AV node -> Bundle of His -> Bundle Branches -> Purkinje Fibers
Atrial depolarization is in what wave P,QRS,T?
P wave
Ventricular depolarization is in what wave P,QRS,T?
QRS wave
Ventricular repolarization is in what wave P,QRS,T?
T wave
When looking for ventricular rhythm, what intervals are you looking at? why?
R-R intervals = ventricular depolarization
When looking for atrial rhythm, what intervals are you looking at? why?
P-P intervals = atrial depolarization
When looking at rhythm, what are you looking for?
to see if the rhythm is regular or regularly irregular
How do you determine the rate?
1 - find QRS complex closer to a line
2 - countdown each hatch from 300,150,100,75,60,50
What is sinus bradycardia?
slow - < 60 bpm
What is sinus tachycardia?
fast - > 100 bpm
What is rapid firing with incapability of depolarizing atria?
atrial fibrillation
What are the key things you would see with atrial fibrillation?
no definite P wave, irregular rhythm, normal QRS complex
You notice no P wave, and early QRS complexes with compensatory pauses. What is going on?
Premature ventricular contraction
If you see >3 PVC’s in a row, what’s going on? What’s the HR?
Ventricular tachycardia
WBC reference value? What will happen when high?
5.0 - 10.0 x 10^9/L
high: weakness, fatigue, fever, dizziness, etc.
