EKG Rhythms Flashcards
You have a premature complex with the first stroke of the p wave being positive off the baseline, what is it?
PAC
What is indicated by the QRS being wider than 0.12 seconds?
It is ventricular in origin, PVC
You have a premature complex with the first stroke of the p wave being negative off the baseline, or there is no p wave, what is it?
PJC
How much time is one small box on EKG paper?
.04 seconds
What does the p wave represent?
Atrial depolarization
What is the QRS complex?
Ventricular depolarization
How wide should the QRS be?
No more than 0.12 seconds
What is the T wave?
Repolarization of the ventricles
How wide should the PR interval be?
Between 0.12 and 0.20 seconds
Where is the J point?
Point at which the ST begins at the termination of the QRS
What five criteria do you use to interpret EKG?
Rate Rhythm QRS P waves PRI
What does an irregularly irregular rhythm signify?
A-fib
If a QRS is narrow, where does it originate?
Above the ventricles (Supraventricular)
What does a prolonged PRI indicate?
Delay in conduction of impulses, AV block
What does a shortened PRI indicate?
Unusually rapid or retrograde conduction of impulse
