Q

describe two mechanisms that can change blood volume flowing to your fingertip

A
  • temperature change: when exposed to a cold stimulus/environment, blood flow to the fingertip will slow down (due to vasoconstriction) in an attempt to conserve heat. when exposed to a hot stimulus/environment, blood flow to the fingertip will increase (due to vasodilation) in an attempt to cool down/get rid of excess heat.
  • the forces of gravity are actively working on the blood flowing to the tip of the finger if it is raised in the air.
