EKG flashcards
What produces the P wave?
atrial depolarization/contraction. note: the depolarization wave for both atria comes from the SA node.
what is the AV node?
the only conducting path between the atria and ventricles
Tricuspid valve is where in the heart?
it is the right AV valve.
tRIcuspid = RIght side.
T/F - the atria both contract at the same time.
true. same for ventricles
Mitral (bicuspid) valve is where in the heart?
left AV valve
mitraL = Left side.
what produces the QRS complex on EKG?
ventricular depolarization (and the beginning of ventricular contraction).
what does the T wave represent?
the final, rapid phase of ventricular repolarization.1
systole encompasses which EKG waves?
from the beginning of QRS to the end of T wave. (spans depolarization and repolarization.)
what does the QT interval represent?
the duration of (ventricular) systole. Also is a good indicator of repolarization, since repolarization comprises most of QT interval.
the height or depth of waves is a measure of ?
voltage
the amount of time between 2 heavy black lines on an EKG is ??
0.2 sec
the amount of time between 2 thin black lines on an EKG is ??
0.04 sec
in the V1 chest lead, the QRS complex is mainly ______ normally
negative
in the V6 chest lead, the QRS complex is mainly ______ normally
positive
sinus bradycardia=
sinus rhythm less than 60/min
sinus tachycardia
sinus rhythm more than 100/min
