EKG book Flashcards
ST segment depression when how many mm or more below the baseline?
0.5mm or more, occurring in 2 or more leads
ST segment elevation when how many mm or more below the baseline?
1mm or more, occurring in 2 or more leads
a depressed ST segment may indicate
myocardial ischemia or digitalis toxicity
an elevated ST segment may indicate
myocardial injury
to determine regular heart rate with caliper
divide number of small boxes between R-R and divide by 1500 (only if REGULAR)
normal PR
0.12-0.20
normal QRS
<0.12
normal QT
0.36-0.44
in irregular rhythms the rate can be calculated by
counting number of R-waves in 6 seconds and multiply by 10
treatment NSR
No action required, continue to monitor, assess VS, SpO2, LOC
treatment SB
if symptomatic treat the cause (ATDE, atropine, transcutaneous pacemaker, dopamine, epinephrine
if asymptomatic continue to monitor, assess VS, SpO2, LOC
treatment Sinus tachycardia
if symptomatic: Treat cause, Oxygen, pain meds, blood products/ fluids, monitor
if asymptomatic: continue to monitor, assess VS, SpO2, LOC
treatment Sinus arrhythmia
check LOC,
if asymptomatic continue to monitor, assess VS, SpO2, LOC
treatment Sinus arrest
oxygen, monitor, IV access, inform MD there was a pause
treatment sinus block
