EKG Flashcards
Circulatory system order of the heart
Venous system Superior and inferior vena cava Right atrium Tricuspid valve Right ventricle Pulmonic valve Pulmonary artery Pulmonary capillary bed in the lungs Lungs Pulmonary vein Left atrium Mitral valve Left entry: Aortic valve Aorta Arterial system
What are the three layers of the heart
Epicardium
Myocardium
Endocardium
What is the epicardium
Inner layer of the pericardium, extra layer of the heart wall, coronary arteries begin in this layer
What is the myocardium
Middle layer of the part wall, thick a slayer of the heart wall, contains contractual muscle fibers, contains conduction system, coronary arteries travel through the myocardium and supply blood oxygen and nutrients to the myocardial cells
What is the endocardium
Inner most layer of the heart wall, made up of smooth connective tissue, lines the outside part of the chambers of the heart, covers the heart valves, pathway for blood supply to valves
What is the sac that encloses the heart
Pericardium
Parietal pericardium is the outer wall
Visceral pericardium is the inner wall
What is the valve between the right atrium and the right ventricle
Tri cuspid valve
What is the valve between the left atrium and the left ventricle
Mitral or bicuspid valve
What are the atrioventricular valves
Tri cuspid valve
Mitral or bicuspid valve
What are the semilunar valves
Pulmonic valve
Aortic valve
What is the valve between the right ventricle and the pulmonary artery
Pulmonic valve
What is the valve located between the left ventricle and the Aorta
Aortic valve
What is starlings law of the heart
Myocardial fibers contract more forcefully when stretched
What is stroke volume
The amount of blood ejected with y
Each ventricle contraction
What is preload
The fourth exerted on the walls of the ventricles at the end of diastole.
