Complete Subject
tells who or what the sentence is about and includes ALL descriptions about the subject
Complete Predicate
tells what the subject is or does and includes the main verb and all other words that complete the verbs meaning
Simple Subject
the main word- noun- of the complete subject that tells who the sentence is about
Simple Predicate
Verb- the key word of the complete predicate that tells what the subject is or does
Compound subjects
two or more subjects that share the same verb - joined by a coordinating conjunction (and, or, nor, but) Caden and Eli
Compound predicates
Made up of two or more verbs that have the same subject and are joined with a coordinating conjunction (and, or, but)
Common Noun
refers to ANY person, place thing or idea- store, truck, city
Proper Noun
refers to a specific person, place, thing or idea- including titles. proper nouns are CAPITALIZED
Pronoun
a word that can be used in the place of a noun
Antecedent
the word that the pronoun replaces
Adjective
modifies or describes a noun- see, smell, taste, hear, feel, experience what is described
Action Verb
tells what the subject DOES- they are found in the predicate
Linking verb
links the subject to a word or phrase in the predicate- am is are was were be being been
Helping Verb
helps the main verb express action or show time- to be- am is are was were be being been, could, can, have, has, had
