When a country attaches conditions to the aid it provides. Often this means that the aid is conditional on the recipient country purchasing goods from the donor country.
Why tied aid receive criticism
Increases the cost of aid programmes and income generation through spending on goods and services is in the donor rather than the recipient country

Type of aid which is provided by multinational organisations such as the United Nations, the European Union or the African Union

It is not usually tied and these organisations can operate on a larger scale because of their economic power
