Edward VI's Reign - Lord President Northumberland's Leadership Flashcards

1
Q

What were Northumberland’s main priorities with the Treaty of Boulogne?

A

His main aim was to end the financial drain of the French War. He was in a strong position to negotiate because England had been victorious over French ships in the channel and Henry II (French?) feared Charles V (HRE?) intervening to help England hold onto Boulogne

A

It provided financial respite for England after the massive drain of a war on two fronts and the financial millstone that was Boulogne.
