Kett rebellion

started at an enclosure riot in the Norfolk town of attleborough and wymondham on the 8th of july 1549
annoyed local lawyer John Flowerdew had brought the local abbey church and started to demolish parts of it and enclose land
kett had enclosed land himself but he was a good leader gathered 16,000 men
marched towards norwich
set up a camp on the outskirts of mousehole heath
local forces unable to disperse the rebels and they siezed norwich, englands second largest city
goverment forced to act sent 14,000 troops to deal with the problem but they were defeated
northumberland sent in and this lead to the masscare of the rebels
while the rebels were at mousehold heaththey set up a list of demands
very structured
own commisions for food and drink and justice administered in the camps with gentlemen brought to the ‘tree of Reformation’
social divisions were a large issue 6% owned 60% of the wealth
decline in cloth industry and increase in poverty and unemployment
