What is the difference between interpretivist theories of education and functionalist theories of education?

A

Interpretivist view education from a micro level, contrastingly functionalist view education on a macro scale.

Interpretivist believe the education system is neither positive or negative. Functionalists argue that education is Meritocracy, and therefore education is a positive function in society.
