  • plessy vs ferguson: separate but equal, underfunded and unsupported, during depression, black schools gave resources to the whites
  • brown vs the board: 13 families brough the court decision that separate but equal wasn’t equal. Blacks could attend the same schools as white
  • oppositioni of this ruling gin the north and strong opposition in the south
  • national guard had to come and escort blacks into schools
