Waldfogel and Washbrook - Cognitive development:

A

Cognitive development of children in poverty when they started school was nearly a year behind that of middle-income children.
This was due to the fact that W/C had no internet at home and lack of money to go on holiday seemed to negatively impact cognitive ability and also reading to children and family trips to interesting places seemed to have a positive impact.
