lack of the norms values and attitudes needed for educational success
meritocratic / metitocracy
institution or society where people get their position through hard work and ability rather than being born into it
fatalistic
the working class accept there place in society rather than change it
present time orientation
the working class focus on there day to day lives not the future
collectivists
the working class are collectivists as they don’t believe there position in society can be changed unless in a group (e.g. the trade union)
optimistic
the middle class are optimistic as they believe that society is a ladder to climb to change there position
deferred gratification
the middle class put wages of in the hope of receiving higher wages in the future
