Editing that keeps the story flowing smoothly.

When an action continues seamlessly between shots.

Showing what a character is looking at.
what is reverse shot?
Showing two characters talking by switching between them.
what is a montage?
A sequence of shots put together to create meaning (like showing a character’s growth by cutting through different moments).
what is cross cutting?
Cutting between scenes happening at the same time in different places.
what are jump cuts?
Abrupt cuts that skip over time or change the flow.
what is a fade?
Gradual change to/from black.
what is dissolve?
One image slowly turns into another.
what is a wipe?
One image “wipes” across the screen to reveal the next.
