What is the falx?
Membrane that attaches to the ethmoid.
What is contra coup?
An injury to one side of the body causing as bad or worse effect on the other.
What is the tentorium?
Membrane that attaches to sphenoid and temporals.
What muscle is the largest pattern setter in the body?
Masseter
Name some situations where ECS is not indicated.
Tumor, Any emergency
Skull fracture (wait 6-8 weeks)
Stroke, Grand mal seizures
Aneurysm, Narcolepsy, Cushings
What are the five basic parts of assessment?
Posture Diagonals Palpation Movement Observation
What are the three major muscles involved in chewing?
Masseter, pterygoid, temporalis
Describe the pterygoid.
Two muscles (medial and lateral) that attach to the sphenoid. Move the jaw laterally. Located inside angle of jaw.
Describe the temporalis.
Attaches to the coronoid process. Closes jaw. Also attaches to the frontal, parietal, occiput, and temporal.
What are the three functions of cerebrospinal fluid?
Lubrication
Nourishment
Protection
