An organism that only eats plants
What is a carnivore?
Organism that only eats meat
What is an omnivore?
An organism that eats both plants and meat.
What is a producer?
Plants that can make their own food using photosynthesis
What is a prey?
An organism that is eaten by another organism
What is a predator
An organism that hunts other organims
What is bioaccumulation?
Bioaccumulation is the build up of chemicals, like insecticides, passed along a food chain.
What is a food web?
Food webs show how much food chains are connected in an ecosystem
What are food chains?
Food chains show the transfer of energy between organisms - the arrow presents the direction of energy transfer.
What is a primary consumer?
An organism that eats the producer
What is a secondary consumer?
An organism that eats the primary consumer
What is a tertiary consumer?
An organism that eats the secondary consumer?
What is a top predator?
An organism that is not eaten by any other organism.
What are the minerals needed for growth in a plant and what are their purposes?
- nitrates for growth
- phosphates for healthy roots
- potassium for healthy leaves and flowers
- magnesium for making chlorophyll
What is a plant called if it doesn’t have enough of a mineral?
It is called mineral deficient
