Q

Woodland habitat

A

Each habitat has its own community of organisms. For example hedgehogs, snails, foxes and
Primroses belong in the woodland habitat

Q

Interdependence

A

Interdependence is how organisms depends on each other for their survival. Example: buttercups depend on bees, bees need buttercups

16
Q

Food web

A

A food web is two or more interconnected food chains

17
Q

Competition

A

Occurs when two or more organisms seek a resource that is limited

18
Q

Plants compete

A

Plants compete for light, water, minerals and space

19
Q

Animals compete

A

Animals compete for food, shelter, territory and mates

20
Q

Adaptations

A

Features that give an organism a better chance of surviving in their habitat

21
Q

The dandelion

A

A plant that has king roots so it reaches below for water and they compete for space because they are able to spread their seeds in the wind

22
Q

The hedgehog

A

Hedgehogs have a great sense of smell, they’re spiked for protection and because of their colour they’re easy to camouflage

23
Q

Conservation

A

The protection, preservation and careful use of natural resources

24
Q

Our natural resources

A

Land,rivers,seas,plants and animals

25
Q

Protection of natural resources

A

If we don’t protect the environment the plants ans animals will become extinct

26
Q

Pollution

A

Polluting is adding unwanted wastes to the environment causing damage to it

27
Q

Air pollution

A

Caused by smoke, dust and harmful gases. Most come from cars, busses and factories

28
Q

Acid rain

A

Damages plants and buildings (carbonic acid and Sulphuric acid)

29
Q

Soil pollution

A

Soil pollution is caused by pesticides, artificial fertilisers and acid rain

30
Q

Water pollution

A

Rivers, lakes and seas are polluted by fertilisers, sewage, oil and detergents

31
Q

Fertilisers (river pollution)

A

Fertilisers seep into rivers and cause too much plant growth, bacteria populations boom as they feed on dead plants and no oxygen is left for fish

32
Q

Incineration

A

Incinerating = burning the waste, this can release dangerous gases into the atmosphere, difficulties with location as nobody wants it near them

33
Q

Landfill

A

Burying the waste in the ground damages soil, rivers and ground water it also attracts unwanted rodents that cause disease and landfills smell and.

34
Q

Recycling

A

Reduced damage to the environment

35
Q

Reduce

A

Using your own bag instead of disposable plastic bags
