ECG's Flashcards
How do you calculate the rate of an ECG?
Count the number of big squaresin an R-R interval and divide 300 by this number
How do you calculate the PR inteval?
Measure form the start of the P wave to the start of the QRS complex
how long is a normal QRS complex?
0.12 seconds or 3 small boxes
What do abnormally large or abnormally long QRS complexes suggest?
•Abnormally large → ventricular hypertrophy •Abnormally broad → ventricular conduction defect BBB.
How long should the PR interval be?
No more than 5 small squares (0.2 seconds)
If the PR interval is longer than 5 small squares, what does this suggest?
problems in conduction from the SA node to the AV node → Type 1 heart block

2nd degree heart block type 2

Atrial flutter

multifocal atrial tachicardia

2nd degree heartblock type1

sinus bradycardia

third degree heart block
