ECG Rhythm Strips Flashcards
What does the P wave represent?
Atrial Depolarization
What does the PR segment represent?
The time required for the impulse to travel through to the AV node, where it is delayed, and through the bundle of HIS, bundle branches, and Purkinje fiber network just before ventricular depolarization
What does the PR interval do?
Represents the time required for atrial depolarization as well as travel through the conduction system and Purkinje fiber network
Inclusive of the P wave and PR segment
Measured from the beginning of P wave to end of PR segment
What does the QRS complex represent?
Represents the ventricular depolarization and is measured from the beginning of the Q (or R) wave to the end of the S wave
What does the J point represent?
The junction where the QRS complex ends of the ST segment begins
What does the ST segment represent?
Early ventricular depolarization
What does the T wave represent?
Ventricular repolarization
What does the U wave represent?
Late ventricular repolarization
What does the QT interval represent?
The total time required for ventricular depolarization Is measured from the beginning of the QRS complex to the end of the T wave.
What does this ECG strip show?

What does this ECG strip show on this unresponsive patient?
Pulseless Electrical Activity (PEA)
Electrical activity with no mechanical activity, patient will be unresponsive, not breathing and pulseless
