ECG Random Flashcards
Which artery is likely to be affected in an anterior MI?
the left anterior descending artery
What is the normal size of a QRS complex?
0.12 seconds or slightly less
How long does 1 small square last?
0.04 seconds
What might cause a wide QRS complex?
inefficient conduction of the ventricles such as bundle branch block
What long should the PR interval last?
0.12-2seconds
What may cause a short PR interval?
presence of accessory pathway e.g. WPW syndrome
How do you calculate rate from and ECG?
count number or large squares between R’s and divide 300 by this number
What do V1 and V2 represent?
septal part of the heart
What does Mobitz 1 look like on an ECG?
progressive prolongation of PR interval and regularly dropped QRS complexes
What is left axis deviation often due to?
defects in conduction system of heart
How is AF characterized on an ECG?
irregularly irregular rhythm
p waves lost
What does lead 1 becoming negative and lead 3 becoming more positive than lead 2 mean?
right axis deviation
What does tall peaked T waves in all leads suggest?
hyperkalaemia
If tall T waves are seen in a group of leads what might this suggest?
early MI
What can cause right axis deviation?
right ventricular hypertrophy
