ECG Flashcards
Low Potassium
U wave
High Potassium
Peaked T wave (may look like second QRS)
QRS complex represents
Depolarization (contraction) of ventricles
P wave represents
Depolarization (contraction) of atria
T wave represents
re-polarization of the ventricles
Junctional Rhythm
No P wave, problem with SA node
Wide QRS
Ventricle-initiated impulse
Atrial Rhythm
SA node fails to generate impulse
Not considered lethal
A-Flutter
ECG: Irregular, sawtooth appearance
A-Fib
ECG: Few measurable atrial (P) waves
Supraventricular Tachycardia
ECG: Can look like V-Tach, but NOT coming from ventricles
Unsure of origin
Before ventricular contraction
Ventricular Rhythm
Can be Fatal
SA or AV fail to initiate
Ventricles start to pace heart
Pre-mature Ventricular Contraction
Ventricles contract to soon
V-Fib
ECG: Looks messy
Ventricles move to fast, no blood leaving heart
V-Tach
ECG: Symmetrical, rounded mounds
Low perfusion, no correct contractions
