In your cover letter you should include why you are interested in the position as well as a a three- to four-sentence paragraph that communicates the three matching skills and/or competencies you would like to highlight for the employer. The goal is to tailor the body of your cover letter to the position you seek.

d. A closing paragraph, following the completed template, that discusses which of the considerations mentioned in the text for planning curriculum for infants/toddlers, preschoolers, and primary-grade students you took into account when developing this lesson.
This assignment should be submitted as a two- to three-page document, not including the title and reference page. Make sure to include at least one scholarly source in addition to the course text to support your ideas; use APA formatting.

Reflective Journal: Learning Environments and Instructional Strategies
An important part of being an educator is reflection. Reflection is a learning process through which you use your experiences and knowledge to guide you in the future. Each week you will have the opportunity to use your journal to reflect on the content you have learned in this course and throughout your degree program. Specifically, you will reflect on the connections you see between each case study and two to three topics from the Program Comprehensive Exam. This week we will be focusing on learning environments and instructional strategies. Take a few minutes to think about how the case study addresses these topics. The questions below may spark some ideas regarding learning environments and instructional strategies. You do not need to address all the questions; instead, write down your thoughts as they unfold. Reflect on the following in your journal:
• What was the learning environment like in the classroom where you felt the most successful in school?
• Using the case study as an example, how will you create a learning environment for your students that will allow them to feel as successful as you did in school?
• What instructional strategies did your teachers use in school in order to ensure your success? Why do you think these instructional strategies were successful?
• Based on the Week One Case Study, what instructional strategies do you think Mrs. Ashland might use with her students? Explain if or how you plan to use any of the strategies that either your teachers used or that you believe Mrs. Ashland will use with supporting rationale of your response.

Chapter 1 of our textbook, A bridge to the classroom and early care: ECE capstone, discusses seven developmentally appropriate practice topics. For this discussion, you will be focusing on one of these topics based on the group to which you are assigned below. For the topic you are assigned, write a position statement that reflects your current thinking on this topic. Make sure to include the connection between this developmentally appropriate practice and NAEYC’s Standards for Early Childhood Professional Preparation. For example, if you are assigned to the environment you might explain a bit about how the room is set up and why materials are presented as they are. Guided Response: Review your classmates’ posts and respond to at least two classmates who wrote about a different Developmentally Appropriate Practice than you. Analyze and share at least two positive implications of having a solid foundation in the Developmentally Appropriate Practice your classmates discussed. In addition evaluate what the consequences might be for children who are in a classroom that does not utilize this developmentally appropriate practice.
